If you would like to investigate whether Chesapeake Speech School would be an appropriate placement for a child, please contact Sue Ann Shafley, Executive Director at 443-745-0455.
For an application or to arrange a school tour, please call the school.
Chesapeake Speech School accepts children placed by school districts as well as private pay. As Chesapeake is an approved non-public placement by the Maryland State Department of Education, students may be eligible for State aid through their local education agencies.
The Association Method, used as the language curriculum of the school, is a phonetic-based reading, writing, speech and language program. Therefore, candidates should demonstrate good pre-reading skills, motor abilities, have the ability to acquire handwriting skills, and possess the physical ability to develop speech. Although the child does not need to be proficient in these areas, he or she must show promise in these areas.
Acceptance to the Chesapeake Speech School is based on appropriateness of the program as well as space availability.
The Chesapeake Speech School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.
